What’s Included in the Price?

Our pricing is built around a complete, ready-to-drive result. Whether we’re dealing with a snapped wet belt or carrying out a full engine rebuild, the job is not finished until the engine is re-fitted, tested and back on the road. There are no surprise add-ons for parts we always fit — what we quote is what you pay.

For snapped wet belt repairs from £2,495, the service covers removal of the engine, replacement of the wet belt, tensioner, idler pulleys and oil pump drive gear, a thorough sump and oil-gallery clean to flush out belt debris, renewal of the oil pickup strainer, and a full re-fit with fresh oil and filter. Where valve damage has occurred through belt-to-piston contact, a cylinder head strip, inspection and rebuild is included.

Full engine rebuilds from £3,395 go further still. The block is stripped completely, bearings are renewed throughout, pistons and rings are inspected and replaced where needed, the crankshaft is inspected and machined or replaced, and the cylinder head is fully reconditioned. The engine is reassembled to manufacturer tolerance, re-fitted into your vehicle and run tested before handover.

Ford Ranger Pricing — £200 Supplement

Ford Ranger engines carry a £200 supplement over equivalent Transit prices. This reflects the additional labour involved in accessing and removing the Ranger’s engine from its four-wheel-drive chassis, along with slightly higher parts costs for the 2.0 EcoBlue and 3.2 TDCi units fitted to the Ranger. Wet belt repairs on a Ranger start from £2,695 and full rebuilds from £3,595.

Fast Turnaround — Back on the Road Quickly

We understand that a van or pickup off the road is money lost. That’s why fast turnaround is a core part of our service, not an add-on. In most cases, wet belt repairs and engine rebuilds are completed and the vehicle is back with the owner within five to seven working days from the point we receive it. Complex damage or parts lead times can occasionally extend this, but we will always communicate proactively and give you an accurate timeline from day one.

Our workshops operate across the North, South and Midlands of England, meaning we can usually arrange collection or drop-off from anywhere in the UK. We handle everything from solo traders with a single Transit to fleet operators managing dozens of vehicles — and every vehicle gets the same level of care.

What Determines the Final Cost?

Our guide prices represent the work involved in the most common failure scenarios — typically a snapped wet belt with manageable valve damage, or an oil-starvation rebuild on a vehicle with low secondary damage. The final cost depends on three key factors:

  • Extent of engine damage: A clean wet belt snap with minimal debris throughout the oil system is at the lower end. Extensive bearing damage, a scored crankshaft, or bent connecting rods will add parts and machining time.
  • Cylinder head condition: Where piston-to-valve contact has occurred, the head must be stripped and inspected. Cracked heads or damaged valve seats require replacement rather than reconditioning.
  • Engine variant: Higher-output Transit engines (105 PS, 130 PS, 185 PS) and the Ranger’s bi-turbo units carry marginally higher parts costs. We will identify the exact specification from your VIN and factor this into the quote.

The easiest way to get an accurate figure is to call us on 03330 50 98 02 or fill out the quote form. We ask for the registration number, a description of what happened (or what the vehicle is doing), and any fault codes if you have them. From that, we can usually give you a firm guide price within a few minutes.

Is It Worth Rebuilding Instead of Replacing?

For most Transit and Ranger owners, a professional rebuild is significantly better value than sourcing a used engine. Used units are often of unknown history — and given the prevalence of wet belt failures across the EcoBlue range, there is a real risk that a secondhand engine has already suffered the same gradual oil contamination. A rebuilt engine from our workshops comes with fresh bearings, a clean oil system, a renewed wet belt, and our own workmanship warranty. You know exactly what you have.

New factory-supplied engines are available, but at a cost many multiples of our rebuild price — and lead times are often longer than our turnaround anyway. For a working vehicle where downtime is a commercial problem, a rebuild is almost always the right call.
